You shouldn’t have to put up with small chips, cracks and gaps in your teeth.

With composite bonding, these minor cosmetic flaws with your teeth can become a thing of the past in just one appointment.

What can composite bonding do for me?

  • Repair damage that’s caused cracks and chips in your teeth.
  • Close small gaps in your smile.
  • Preserve your natural tooth structure.

Composite bonding: The lowdown

Composite bonding is a minimally invasive solution for restoring teeth. If your tooth is unaffected by severe damage, we can offer composite bonding as an alternative to a crown or a veneer, which are more invasive alternatives.

Sheets of composite resin are layered onto the tooth being treated and shaped into place. Once in place, the resin does a remarkable job of recreating the appearance of tooth enamel. We will carefully select a shade of composite that fits in with your other teeth.

Composite bonding: Your treatment journey

In most cases, composite bonding is completed in one appointment.

Examination: We will examine your tooth to ensure it isn’t significantly damaged. If the damage is purely superficial, we can proceed with composite bonding.

Preparation: We will apply a special adhesive, followed by the composite resin layers. These are shaped into the correct shape and size. A UV light will then harden the resins.

Polishing: Your tooth is polished.

You’re done!

Your questions answered

Can anyone have composite bonding?

Composite bonding is suitable for patients who have healthy teeth.

If you’re someone who wishes to have teeth whitening treatment in the future, we recommend doing this before going ahead with composite bonding, as the resin won’t respond to the whitening gel.

Are veneers a better option than composite bonding?

There are various advantages to choosing either veneers or composite bonding. Generally, we recommend composite bonding as a first step and veneers later down the line, particularly if you want a longer-lasting solution. This is because veneers require some of your teeth to be removed to have them placed. However, they typically last many more years than a tooth that has undergone composite bonding.

How long does composite bonding last?

Composite bonding lasts an average of between 5 – 7 years. By contrast, veneers last for 10 – 15 years.
