Implant retained dentures: Your treatment journey

Consultation: An assessment of your mouth will reveal the condition of your jawbone. If there is enough healthy jawbone to work with, we can proceed with your implant surgery.

Surgery: Your implants are placed under local anaesthetic and the subsequent healing time is approximately 4-6 months.

Restoration: A bespoke set of dentures is made to fit over the top of the implant. Your crown will be securely screwed into the implant, so you won’t need to worry about your new crown shifting around when you are eating and talking.

How are my custom dentures created?

We make your dentures by taking photographs and impressions of your teeth. We will pay close attention to the proportions that make your teeth unique to you and ask you about your preferred tooth shade. Whilst some patients prefer the ‘Hollywood’ look of a white and bright smile, others favour a more authentic-looking shade for their teeth.

How do implant-retained dentures protect my jawbone?

The presence of implants in your mouth gives the jawbone the stimulus it needs to maintain your facial structure. Tooth replacement treatments that don’t use implants do not protect the jawbone in this way. This can result in problems like:

• Hollow cheeks.
• A protruding chin.
• Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth area.

With your dentures secured by implants, these problems will not affect you.
