Teeth whitening: Your treatment journey

At-home teeth whitening uses custom-made teeth whitening trays and carbamide a hydrogen peroxide gel. We’ll show you how to apply the gel to your whitening trays so that you can whiten your teeth either during the day or at night whilst you sleep.

Examination: We will check to see if your mouth is healthy enough to undergo teeth whitening. If you are suffering from gum disease or decay, this will need to be treated beforehand.

Preparation: Your custom-made whitening trays are made by taking impressions of your teeth. It should take about 2 weeks for your trays to arrive back at the practice.

Whitening: You can begin your at-home whitening, using your custom whitening trays.

How long will my teeth stay white?

This will depend on how often you opt for teeth-staining food and drink and how rigorous you are with your oral health routine. If you would like to maintain the results of treatment, we recommend top-ups once each year, on average.

Can I choose how white I would like my teeth to go?

We will discuss your desired shade before beginning treatment and tailor the duration of treatment accordingly. Whilst some patients may be looking for that white signature ‘Hollywood’ smile, others may only wish to whiten their teeth by a couple of shades.

I have tooth sensitivity – can I still whiten my teeth?

The whitening system we used is specially designed with tackling tooth sensitivity in mind. If you do find you’re experiencing some sensitivity, taking a day off treatment will usually.
